Oval’s Jet Stream R900 Road Fork Reviewed

Oval_R900.jpg

Road Cycling UK (RCUK) recently took Oval’s R900 aerodynamic fork for a spin and walked away seriously impressed. The R900, which was adapted from a time trial model, features a slotted biplane aerodynamic design that helps overcome the drag created by the front wheel and spokes. The fork manages to do this by compressing airflow in areas that are prone to turbulence which helps restore a smoother laminar flow. The company claims that the design could make a bike around 45 seconds faster over a 1 hour 50km/h time trial. Overall, RCUK found the R900 to be a “top quality fork” that helped to cancel out “road buzz”, “softened bumps” and “steered with great precision.” The fork also showed no signs of flex, allowing the reviewer to “corner more confidently.” Made in Switzerland, the fork weighed in at 410g, although the manufacturer lists it as being just a little bit heavier at 425g. A quick look online shows these forks selling for around about $479 USD.

Tour de France Repeats Available via OLN On-Demand

OLN_Logo.gif

If you need more Tour, your local cable operator might be able to help. Some cable companies allow viewers to watch highlight shows of certain race stages - RCN (our local carrier) for example offers access to stages 15 – 20. We were a little disappointed to see the Pyrenees routes were not available, but we make up for it by playing stage 17 in a running loop. Overall we though the coverage was a little too short, but each stage overview seems to cover the important points.

We have written about how Floyd Landis came from humble roots, but following his Tour de France victory, he now has a standing invitation to come and visit the Prez himself. Tifosi Pave Sunglasses Reviewed

Tifosi_Pave.jpg

Commutebybike.com (CBB) recently took a close look at a pair of Tifosi Pave Sunglasses, and, had a pretty upbeat review. The sunglasses in general proved to be a comfortable fit (even when using a helmet), and the lenses proved capable in both sunny and overcast conditions. The one major complaint seems to be that the lenses were not scratch proof. Overall, when CBB compared the Tifosi shades to more expensive sunglasses – like the Specialized Chicane and Wiley X JP-2 LA, the $59 Paves provided “performance” and “value” that would be hard to beat.
