As the cycling industry tries to broaden its appeal to a wider customer base, more and more companies are focusing on the once neglected, female buyer. Trek, a while back launched its “Women Specific Design” line, while Cannondale created a series of gender specific Synapse bikes. Specialized, who also has a couple of female-specific models marketed under the Designs for Women (D4W) label, has, like Trek, taken things a step further with a traveling demo program. The D4W demo program launched a couple of weeks ago at the Subaru Women’s Triathlon in Washington where the company’s demo truck was on hand to show off their stock of road bikes, mountain bikes, as well as many of the company’s accessories. The rolling demo is planning to hit many Northwestern U.S. Specialize dealers in the coming weeks as well as the So-Cal Subaru Women’s Triathlon in San Diego. For those who don’t live out West, you can still learn about D4W gear via the company’s D4W specific site. To check out the D4W line though you’ll need head to Specialized proper, or click here.
