Interbike: Yakima’s New HighRoller Upright Rack

Over the summer Yakima released a new fork-mount bike rack called the SproketRocket, which featured a new, more streamlined design that did away with Yakima’s more familiar black track, in favor of a sturdier frame with more of an automotive finish. To appeal to the upright crowd, Yakima has followed up with the HighRoller, which uses a similar body to the SproketRocket, but adds a front upright assembly capable of accommodating tires up to 3” in width and 29” in diameter. Also, with a sliding rear wheel-tray that’s completely independent of the bar mounts , the HighRoller can quickly adjust to bikes with various hub-to-hub lengths; and it also has a double sided wheel strap that allows the rack to function equally well on either side of a vehicle. When not in use, the upright wheel-supports fold flat, helping to reduce at speed wind noise. MSRP for the HighRoller is expected to be around $169, with first shipments anticipated around January.
