Retired professional cyclist Jesper Skibby admitted to using the performance enhancing drug EPO while riding for the TVM team during the 1990’s. The admission came as Skibby spoke to Danish news paper Extra Bladet at the launch of his autobiography appropriately titled Let me Explain. Skibby, now in his forties, says he first started doping in 1991, when he used cortisone during the Ruta del Sol. He later moved on to EPO in 1993, usually injecting himself once per day. According to Wikipedia, Skibby says that he continued to dope for more than ten years. While Skibby declined to say who supplied him with the drugs, he did say that he came forward with the information in the hopes that “young people don’t make the same mistake I made.”
