A Brief Guide to Cyclocross

With cyclo-cross season is full swing, articles for the interested novice are popping up everywhere. Yesterday we covered some introductory videos from VeloNews TV, and today, we came across a quick guide to cyclo-cross from SheCycles.com. Besides delving into some of the history behind the sport, the article gives a brief intro into some of what riders can expect on race-day both physically, technically and mentally. The equipment discussion is a bit more skewed toward the female rider (it is SheCycles.com after all) but guys will find something to take away as well.

Intro to Cyclo-Cross Videos

Cyclo-cross (XC) has been around for over a hundred years, but lately the sport is gaining in popularity as riders look for a way to keep active during the winter months. For those who don’t really know much about cross, VeloNews TV has posted a series of four short online videos which cover some of the sport’s basics. In addition to offering a brief equipment overview, the videos run through some of the dismount techniques riders use, as well as what riders might see when riding their first race.
