Eurobike organizers announced today they have decided to shelve plans for their 2007 Portland based cycle show. Instead, Eurobike says they will work with the organizer of the Sea Otter Classic to develop a new show, presumably to take place some time in April. While no official reason for the cancellation has been offered, the US representative of Eurobike’s organizers said that “initial reaction to the Portland show was less than positive as suppliers voiced concern over cost and another show in an already crowded September calendar.”

Topeak’s New Allay Saddle

IMG_1595.JPG

In recent years, the health of bicycle seating has become a major focus of the industry. Manufactures have tried a variety of approaches that include flattening the center of the seat, to outright removing it - as Specialized has with its BG comfort line. This coming year, Topeak will be throwing its hat into the saddle-ring, with the release of its new Allay line which will feature an AirSpan mesh that conforms to a riders body to give a “Compression Free Zone that helps to eliminate numbness and pain”. The saddle also includes “Zer o Side Wall”, which is designed to help avoid chafing, and prevent thigh rash. Finally, like other saddles, the Alley offers pelvic bone support via their “Big Sit Bone Comfort Zone”. The Allay will be available in five different models that range from the 210g race inspired Competition, to the more touring focused 430g Nomad (which even includes shock absorbers).
