Utility Ads Route, Elevation & GPS Export to Google Maps

Over the past several years, developers have come up with a number of utilities (aka mashups) which allow cyclists to plot out a route using Google Maps. While these utilities proved to be very popular, they were frequently limited just to calculating distance. A new mashup called Course Creator, which was developed by a programmer at Training Peaks, takes things a step further by allowing riders to calculate elevation over a route, as well as export route data to a GPS device for use out on the road. The utility also works with CompuTrainers, so athletes can practice a specific route indoors. For the time being, Course Creator is a stand alone utility, but Training Peaks is saying that its features should make their way into the Training-Peaks and Cycling-Peaks software in the near future.

Hutchinson’s New Road-Tubeless Website

We previously told you about two new tubeless road tires Hutchinson was planning for the coming season. Turns out they are pretty serious about the new line, giving the tires their own website to boot – something we like since we always felt that Hutchinson’s cycling division was buried among their other businesses. The new site offers just up just about everything you could hope to learn about their tubeless tires including technical details, product information, as well as how to mount the tires, and fix them when they make the dreaded hissing sound. The site also provides a quick link to Hutchinson’s main cycling site, which looks like it might have had a remake since the last time we visited.
