TV based cycling coverage has a pretty short season in the US. Thankfully though we’re starting to see a number of cycling websites bring expanded video coverage to fans who for years had to follow the sport in text and still image form. The latest entry in this field is The Broadband Racer (TBR), which is seeking to makes its mark by offering video-highlights of the latest races, behind-the-scenes race exposes, as well as a series of video-blogs (which sort of remind us of OLN’s Lance Chronicles) from pro-riders like CSC’s Christian Vande Velde, and Davitamon–Lotto’s Freddie Rodriguez. We took TBR for a spin today, and came away impressed. Video quality was seamless (well beyond our expectations), and to the site’s credit, video was embedded in the browser window (a la YouTube) - which means no new windows or players were required to view videos. We also thought that the content was well done, but we would like to see more teams offer up some behind the scenes v-blogs – probably in time…
